The best explanation about calories that I ever read is at Hussman’s site. Although essentially a detailed look at the Body For Life program, Hussman’s site has a lot of worthwhile fitness essays - all of them worth reading.

Is it just me, or did the whole world just suddenly stop talking about C++ and object oriented design? Python, XML, Perl, RSS, RDF - *these* topics are discussed endlessly. But why does nobody blog about C++, STL and plain old design issues? In my search to find some discussion about these topics I found these most excellent blogs: Sanjay’s Coding Tips and iUnknown.com
