A friend of mine cured herself of a clothes buying habit by asking herself before she bought anything “Am I going to wear this all the time?” If she couldn’t convince herself that something she was thinking of buying would become one of those few things she wore all the time, she wouldn’t buy it. I think that would work for any kind of purchase. Before you buy anything, ask yourself: will this be something I use constantly? Or is it just something nice? Or worse still, a mere bargain?

My husband is always fighting with me for my compulsive buying I try but when I am at the store I do not know what happens.

This is a cool idea to help curb compulsive buying. I came up with what I call a “have to do list”. If the item I am wanting to buy is not somehow connected to my list I do not buy it.
Does asking that question include when buying a hooker?
I need to ask myself that question.
That’s it! I’m showing this post to my wife
While it is a good idea (!) to be in control of those pathological urges that lead to the shopping mall, we do buy stuff for that special occasion and don’t use on a daily basis.
Re: Scott-o-rama’s comment: Ha ha! You’ve got a point.
